Why the name SPICEWORLD?
All circuit simulators need to be a pun based around SPICE and I’m a 90s kid so here we are. Hopefully this project will spice up your life…
What is SPICEWORLD about?
This site is dedicated to documenting my experiments and learning around analogue circuit modelling. I was inspired by the excellent video series by Moritz Klein which focuses on building a series of Eurorack modules from the ground up. The videos start with the simplest possible realisation of a circuit then add complexity as needed. These were later release as kits which I hope to obtain/build in parallel.
However as a very indirect way to learn about synth DIY, I thought I’d also try to simulate/model the circuits in code. On the blog I will document this process, lessons learnt, tips and tricks. Given that Mortiz has created such a good curriculum, I’ll aim to follow his series. The general process will be to take a module/schematic, parse the netlist that represents it, add components as required (resistors/capacitors/diodes etc), autogenerate code, then wrap this as a VCV Rack module. As the complexity increases, I’ll need to investigate techniques to keep CPU usage down etc.
